In Honeyland, the last female bee hunter in Europe, Hatidze, must save the bees when a family of nomadic beekeepers invade her land. Despite Hatidze's efforts and beekeeping advice the pressure mounts as the nomadic patriarch embarks on practices that will have devastating ramifications for Haditze’s livelihood.
The movie's themes are surprisingly universal. The directors' observational approach offers fascinating commentary on gender, our use of nature and the male ego. Just as her bees are impacted by forces beyond their control, Haditze’s life is frequently derailed by the men in her orbit.
